Public Hearing on Mayor’s recommended budget

COMMON COUNCIL ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HEARING

TO REVIEW THE MAYOR’S RECOMMENDED CITY BUDGET

FOR 2011-2012

BUFFALO, NY – The City of Buffalo, NY Common Council will be holding back-to-back public hearings on the Mayor’s Recommended City Budget for the 2011-12 fiscal year in Common Council Chambers on the thirteenth floor of City Hall on Tuesday May 10, 2011 beginning at 5:00pm.

The first hearing will provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the recommended funding allocation for the Buffalo Board of Education. Immediately following, the public will be afforded the opportunity to make comments and suggestions to the Council regarding the entire Recommended City Budget which is the City’s spending plan for the fiscal period beginning on July 1, 2011 and ending on June 30, 2012.

These hearings are a very important aspect of the Council’s annual budgetary review process and the information gathered will add to the Council’s efforts to adopt a final 2011-12 Annual Budget no later than May 22, 2011 in accordance with the legal requirements imposed by the City of Buffalo Charter and Code.

In conjunction with the Council’s Openness and Transparency in Government Initiatives and for those who are unable to attend these hearings in person, the Common Council will live video stream these important hearings which can be accessed by using a personal computing device having internet access and by inserting the following web address in the device web-browser: http://www.city-buffalo.com/Home/Leadership/CommonCouncil/Common_Council_Live_Coverage.
