A Call to Parents to Get Involved…A Call to the Administration to Listen

25 Apr

The message was clear at Rev. Darius G. Pridgen’s packed Easter service at Kleinhans Music Hall: enough is enough. Pridgen, the current pastor at True Bethel Baptist Church, a Common Council member, and former School Board member cited the dismal graduation rates of black males in the district, as well as general systemic failures in the School System as a rallying point to encourage parents to become invested in the education reform movement that is quickly gaining ground in Buffalo. Pridgen, as well as DPCC Vice President, Samuel Radford, are supporting protests, and a May 16th student strike if the administration refuses to seriously address parents’ concerns about the failing Public School System. The Buffalo News provides more details on Pridgen and Radford’s talks here.
